About Me
Sue Mort
Integrative Counsellor, Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Hypnotherapist and EFT Practitioner (Online)
Since 2011 I have worked in private practice as an integrative counsellor, helping clients navigate change, loss, grief, anxiety, low self-esteem, life transitions, and the journey towards greater self-acceptance.
My work as a hypnotherapist grew naturally from my counselling background and my belief that lasting change happens when we work with both conscious understanding and the subconscious mind. Together, counselling and hypnotherapy can help you break free from unhelpful patterns, build confidence, improve wellbeing, and create meaningful, sustainable change.
I have a particular interest in supporting people with weight management, emotional eating, confidence, overthinking, IBS, menopause-related challenges, and other issues where the mind-body connection plays an important role.
Mindfulness underpins much of my approach, both personally and professionally. Trained in mindfulness-based approaches, I draw on its principles and practices to help you cultivate greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and acceptance alongside meaningful change.
As well as working with clients, I provide clinical supervision and pastoral support to other therapists in their professional practice.
Above all, I aim to offer a warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported. Every person is unique, so I tailor my approach to your individual needs, helping you move towards a healthier, more fulfilling relationship with yourself and your life.
Because lasting change isn’t about becoming someone else—it’s about becoming more fully yourself.

Professional Background
My journey into counselling began in 1997, when I volunteered with Samaritans (Bridgend) and Cruse Cymru (Neath/Port Talbot). I went on to study for a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Skills at the University of Wales College Newport (1998–1999), followed by a Diploma in Counselling Theory and Practice with Well Training Ltd in Swansea.
The practical component of my diploma was completed within a local GP practice and a drug and alcohol harm reduction agency, providing a strong foundation in working with a wide range of client needs.

My Therapeutic Approach
My work is integrative, meaning sessions are tailored to you as an individual. Alongside counselling, I draw on a range of approaches including Clinical Hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) to support your emotional wellbeing, personal growth and behaviour change.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
EFT (Tapping) is part of the growing field of Energy Psychology and works by gently stimulating the body’s natural stress-reduction points while focusing on emotional or physical concerns. Research shows it can help reduce anxiety, low mood, stress, and phobias, and support improved emotional balance, resilience and more.
